What Did You Do with Your Water pot?
The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? (John 4:28-29 KJV)
Mankind is always burdened and carrying a heavy load of baggage when he first meets Jesus Christ. Your baggage was different than my baggage but we were all bogged down with carrying the weight of our sin when we met Jesus Christ.
A woman meets Jesus Christ one day while attending to the needs of her household fetching water from the well in the middle of the day. It was not a common occurrence for a woman to draw water from the town well in the middle of the day. Most women would have been found at the well in the early hours of the morning collecting water for the needs of the day ahead of them.
This woman was not an ordinary woman. She was a woman who was living in great sin, therefore because of shame, was unable to show her face among the ladies of the city in the common early morning hours. She came to draw water in the middle of the day.
However, this particular woman was called to this specific well at this exact time of the day because it was the will of God for this woman.
The woman at the well met with Jesus. Jesus knew every sordid detail about her life. Jesus changed this woman from wallowing in sin to existing spiritually alive and fragrant. She began to live at once setting down her water pot and using her life to bring glory and honor to God.
