Bearing Reproach for Christ
1 Peter 4:14-16 (KJB) If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. 16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
To the world things of God are evil. To a sincere man or woman of Christ God is great and glorified.
A child of God rests at the opposite end of the spiritual spectrum from a person who is aligned with the god of this world. A child of God is looking out for an eternal vision and mindset while wayward spiritual hearts only see and hear what is taking place in this world.
Not only that, but a child of God can expect to suffer persecution and harassment from dark spiritual enemies of God when boldly proclaiming the name of Christ. His name brings evil and hostility to face off with godly men and women in spiritual skirmishes and clashed in this world.
However don’t let any evil battles scare you into sitting down on the job, for God has given us special spiritual armor, words, and weapons (Ephesians 6:11-20) to deploy for standing tall in victory in any battles faced as a child of God sojourns in this world.
Though some battles in this world may seem treacherous, terrifying, and can ultimately leave a person physically wounded, take heart, for God has provided everything a child of God needs to stand spiritually tall and victorious in this world and forever in the eternal realm inside sweet fellowship with Him.
