A Catch Twenty-Two
James 4:17 (KJV) Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Okay, ut oh, here it is. If a person realizes that what he or she does is a sin, it shows without a doubt that they choose to sin. It is a “spiritual catch Twenty-Two” with no “sin-free avenue” available for pleading ignorant dissent.
No, no, you might claim, “the devil made me do it…” perhaps in an attempt to relieve yourself of responsibility.
However, there is no such irrefutable force available to move any soul to sin. Especially any power spearheaded by the devil. The truth is that each person chooses his or her action, attitude, and each person makes an individual choice to sin against God.
This scripture verse plainly illustrates our responsibility for any sin at work in our life, knowing it, and for accurately applying this responsibility, recognizing and reputing sin involves every aspect of living the Christan life. This responsibility to do good includes his or her love and generosity towards others and especially in our spiritual heart relationship with God.
Each of us should take this scripture and impress it in our hearts and mind. Take the time to digest it and allow it to wiggle its way into our state of the heart. Each of us is responsible to God for any sin at work in our life there is no room for denying it.
