A Continual Feast
Proverbs 15:15 (KJV) All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.
Happiness makes you smile, but joy is a continual feast. Maybe you do not understand the difference between the two: happiness and joy. Let me give you a biblical perspective of God concerning a merry heart.
God’s Word speaks a lot about joy and the joy of the Lord. Why, because every sincere professing Christian intimately knows about the joy of the Lord. It is eternal peace, a continual spiritual song playing in the heart, despite the state of our circumstances.
Happiness, on the other hand, depends on our conditions, and let me tell you, this wicked world can be rough and tumble. On the other hand, a continual feast is a merriness in the heart that does not go away, even when we face circumstances that are dire and lie beyond our control. You see, the presence and power of God allow every child of God to look at this world and the eternal realm to come with rose-colored glasses. Godly lenses focus intimately on a feast of lasting hope and joy, thereby glancing at the wickedness at work in this world.
Though each of us must know what is happening about us, we leave the worry to God. He is so much better at fixing problems and circumstances than we will ever be! Don’t just be happy in good times; find the joy of the Lord, which continues to spiritually flavor every nook and cranny of your life!
