A Faithful Season
Isaiah 41:10 (KJV) Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Today is the first day of December. This means the holiday season is fast approaching. It is time set aside since the first century for remembering the virgin birth of Christ. It is a time of faith and hope; it is not meant for fear, doom, or gloom. It is for celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.
However, for some, Christmas is not a season of celebration but a season that brings a mixture of sadness and anxiety, especially to lost, wounded, and wayward souls. Why? Because as a person chooses to focus on this world, holiday shopping, financial woes, missing loved ones in the holiday season, or perhaps fractured relationships with friends and family, a sense of sadness and sorrow quickly creeps into the picture. Why? Because focusing on things of this world leaves no person any lasting peace and comfort.
On the other hand, viewing life on earth through the faith-filled lens of God, especially in this Christmas season gives a person spiritual tenacity, unbreakable faith, and grace for whatever may come their way. As the holiday season rolls in as well as throughout the year, a child of God looks to the Savior’s birth as the ultimate present, a precious gift that lasts throughout time. Having this God-filled viewpoint allows regenerated souls to humble themselves and to fear nothing at work on earth. A child of God looks to Him for strength, purpose, and presence rather than placing hope in themselves or things that will rust and fade from significance on this corrupt earth.
Let’s make this season a time to reflect on the greatest Gift of all – Jesus Christ, who divinely fills regenerated souls with faith and strength as they sojourn in a wicked world celebrating everything but the virgin birth of Jesus Christ. Yes, let’s make this season all about the lasting presence, power, and faithfulness of Jesus Christ, who, following the will of His Father, was born as an infant to save the world from sin.
