A Glimpse of God
Isaiah 6:5 (KJB) Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.
Just a glimpse of God gives a man a truthful portrait of his own wickedly sinful condition for God is holy, timeless, and perfect.
Any imperfection, fissure, act, or spiritual disfigurement in man because of sin, and is highly conspicuous. Especially when measured against the eternally perfect standard unambiguously demonstrated by God.
The Prophet Isaiah was flabbergasted the very moment he recognized his own wicked heart condition compared to the eternal goodness of God. At the same time, he was awestruck at seeing the purity and power of God.
The conviction of his own sinful speech was both instant and overwhelming. One glimpse of God humbled Isaiah shuttering his perverse lips from rendering further filth.
This peek at God caused him to recognize God’s wrath was inevitable against sin. He now understood that if he continued to live in an unholy atmosphere, surrounded by people who routinely spoke using sinfully wicked speech, that joining in himself that he would also be subject to God’s eternal wrath.
