A Gorgeous Robe
Luke 23:11 (KJV) And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
Upon first reading this verse, a person not in the know might discern that placing a gorgeous robe on Him was a good thing. However, when a magnificent looking robe is put on Jesus Christ here, it is done to make fun of and mock him who claimed to be a king.
Other verses will tell us that this robe was ornate and purple. The color is vital for throughout time purple is associated with royalty. Though Jesus Christ is the King of Kings to these scorners, placing this robe on Him was done to persecute Jesus before he was sent to Pilate, an earthly ruler.
Jesus Christ is accurate in His profession; He is King, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords. He deserves to wear a gorgeous purple Robe for He divinely rules over all.
