A Mark of Ownership
Revelation 13:16-17 (KJV) And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Perhaps nothing has been more speculated than about this mark. Some say it will be a physical mark like cattle branding used by farmers and ranchers, while others declare it an invisible branding or a chip placed just under the skin. No person knows what this mark will be, but we know it will signify who each soul belongs.
Even now, in the times we live, God tells us that we will know the souls that are His by their fruit. No person who has accepted Christ wears His name stamped on their forehead; however, by their actions, they are known. This declaration is not a new revelation but corresponds with God’s entire Bible, inspired by God and penned by the apostle John in the first century.
Hollywood has taken the wide speculation concerning this verse and turned it into horrific depictions in movies and television shows concerning the mark of the beast. However, Hollywood’s descriptions are not biblical. Messages from false teachers and preachers are inconsistent with the scripture found in God’s Word. The Only way to understand this coming mark of ownership is to study God’s account. When you opt for this approach, you will realize that the beast’s mark will happen on earth after God’s spiritual family is ushered into eternity. In other words, if you are a sincere Christian, you do not need to worry about it personally.
However, at first, the mark of the beast will seem like a good thing for lost souls. That is until it is too late to turn back or to change one’s mind about God and the evil god at work in this world. Rather than fret and fear about the antichrist and the beast’s mark, Christians should focus on God and reach lost souls with the salvation message.
