A New Creature Not Newly Managed Behavior
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJB) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
There is a wide gap between behavior modification proposed in this world and new behavior available by uniting with Christ and allowing God to change the spiritual state of heart and nature concerning sin.
A child of God has chosen to change his mind about the nature of sin willingly agreeing with God about sin and to identify with Him rather than align himself with the nature of the god of this world. You see a man is naturally in agreement with the god of this world the moment of his physical birth into this world. It takes a supernatural work of God to change a person’s nature to align spiritually with the holy nature of God.
Yes, a man is given a new nature and new life in Christ the moment of his spiritual birth in this world. From that moment forward he is identifying with the nature and freedom available in Christ.
Indeed, it is true, there is a new nature available for any person spiritually regenerated in Christ. God’s new nature applied to willing hearts can successfully and permanently transform behavior according to His power and presence rather than only adapting or altering a behavior for a season in this world.
