A Savor of Life or Death?
2 Corinthians 2:15-16 (KJB) For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: 16 To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
Those who have been quickened spiritually alive in Christ are a sweet savor of eternal life.
Those who choose to remain dead in spirit are a sour savor of death and wickedness compliments of the god of this world.
There is a death that matures a person unto new life in Christ. This is a death of self (Galatians 2:20). When a person chooses to die to self and to live unto the spiritual things of Christ, he or she has been eternally quickened spiritually alive. This means that the grievous odor of sin and death no longer have a hold on their life and they hang smelling sweetly in eternal spiritual balance with God forevermore.
Emitting a sweet savor of Christ is to choose to place things of God into first place, thereby setting things concerning self in to the stinky trash pile of this world!
A man who desires to remain dead and spiritually dormant rather than know God will emit the stink of death forever.
It is always God who has a perpetual grip on the hearts of souls who have been quickened alive and their spirit is teeming with new eternal life. It is He who divinely directs and drives a renewed heart to live both now and forevermore. An ignorant person can convey eternal spiritual death to their soul by choosing to ignore things of God inviting perpetual ruin to his soul upon his physical death and entrance into eternity.
