Abide In The Vine
John 15:4-5 (KJV) Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
These verses give us important instructions for living a successful spiritual life in this world. We are to abide in the vine, but what exactly does that mean? Knowing about this is vital to our position and practice towards God as we sojourn in this wicked world.
Abiding in the vine points to placing trust in the strength and presence of Jesus Christ. Trusting in Jesus Christ is the forerunner for any person to live a successful Christan life in this world. This verse above is clear if any person fails to do this, he or she can do nothing on their own. In other words, without relying upon the presence and power of Christ, no person can produce spiritual fruit, no ifs, and, or but. Though many lost or wayward souls will try, without the presence of Christ, any attempts are futile.
Abide in the Vine rather than attempting to crawl out on any branches in your power and merit. Only in spiritual conjunction with Jesus Christ can anything be accomplished in this evil world, for without Him, nothing can take place.
