Abraham Saw It
John 8:54-56 (KJB) Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: 55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
These verses speak about Abraham and a future promise given to him from God. You see, faith has always been necessary for salvation since the beginning. Salvation works the same throughout time. Abraham received salvation and was glad. He received redemption in his softened heart the very same way every regenerated heart does to this day.
Abraham did not rely on spiritual osmosis, that his works, traditions, family position, and such to bring his favor before God. Spiritual standing that is right with God is most often wrong according to reasoning and popular opinion in this world. Nothing that a person can do will usher in the salvation of the soul. All the money in the world cannot purchase eternal life.
Standing right with God is standing apart from this world. Be like Abraham, who was glad to recognize and to receive salvation of God for his soul, for he knew nothing else could bring honor to his depleted soul eternal life.
