According to His Purpose and Grace
2 Timothy 1:9-10 (KJB) Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
The most miserable person in this world is the one who elects to profess a personal relationship with God but tries to accomplish everything on his own power and in his own way. A man’s works are always fleeting in and of himself and always lacking genuine power or spiritual purpose.
Salvation is always a supernatural work of God. A man cannot do the work of salvation or take part in any sincere spiritual works for God on his own accord. Both his spiritual standing with God and his practical walk require the indwelling supernatural power and presence of God. A humbled man must throw away his own agenda and get in personal spiritual alignment with God.
It is easy to proclaim a personal relationship with Christ but dying to self (Galatians 2:20) always has a personal cost involved. Allowing the supernatural power and presence of God to work and to will inside his softened heart is well worth any price associated with trusting in the unlimited mercy and grace of God for it brings perpetual benefits and blessings to every humbled heart.
