Against Thee Only
Psalm 51:4 (KJB) Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
David was heartbroken and spiritually naked before God. His sin laid bare and evil before God. David understood the magnitude of his sin against the holy nature and perfection of God. How grievous all sin is before God, yet how wonderful it is that He cares for us and desires to forgive and justify us and make us positionally clean before Him as we stand in this wicked world.
God did just that; He gave David a blank slate. He wiped every confessed sin from off his record and gave him a clear account. When a person chooses to judge his actions, thoughts, and words against the decrees of God, he can be justified or made as if he never sinned, standing innocent before God.
Isn’t it beautiful when a person sins against God, he can freely and humbly choose to come before Him and receive recompense for his sin? God desires to set our sin record straight according to His abundant grace and mercy.
