Ancient Prophets Are an Example for Us
James 5:10-11 (KJB) Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. 11 Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
Have you given much thought to the sufferings and sorrows of ancient professing prophets as they sojourned in this dark world? God saw fit to record details of their lives for giving us a greater understanding of the persecution and injustices they faced along with how they learned to endure them with the inner working of the supernatural presence, power, and patience of God.
Not only did these ancient prophets profess about God and suffer persecution for it, as they were tormented about God, they had great joy and patience at work in their heart and life. Yes, they were happy in their afflictions rather than looking for something in this world to take their grief and pain away.
These men chose to suffer while having a great spiritual calm and cool amid spiritual calamities, you can too.
Are you taking in the great message contained in this scripture verse along with an example of ancient prophets persevering under great angst and pressure when speaking about God to heart? Or have you allowed the grave presence of such adverse spiritual conditions at work to shutter your profession of faith and preclude any notion of living godly as you sojourn as God’s pilgrim in this world?
It is true, the god of this world always tries to clamp down on communications about God for preventing any person from proclaiming His Truth. However, the presence and power of God cannot be short-circuited or perpetually prohibited in the lives of genuine children of God. They naturally desire to proclaim the truths of His Word.
