And Such Were Some of You
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 (KJB) Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
It is a sad fact that many professing Christians operate in this world with selective memories. What I mean by this statement is that many people fail to remember what they used to do and more importantly who they used to resemble in life before Gods work of salvation inside their heart.
Perhaps we like to point out the sinful tendencies and desires of others choosing to walk with our head held high, but at the same time, easily forget that we were once proud to walk with an unrighteous heart condition which grievously affected our actions, speech, and others about us.
The descriptive words found in this scripture perhaps could have been applied to our life before God did a work of salvation in our heart. It is true that such grievous sin was common once up a time in our own experience and we need not be spiritually proud and pious towards lost hearts.
