Are You Willing to Be Used of God?
And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. (Luke 1:38 KJV)
Mary was submissive, willing, and obedient to be used of God. This spiritual event the angel announced in Mary’s life came unexpectedly and suddenly, yet she took no time in accepting God’s will placed upon her life.
You or I might have stammered around awhile like Moses or flat out began to back away from any involvement in any spiritual opportunity of this proportion. Or be like Jonah and try to flee from God. An opportunity of this magnitude was remarkable, but Mary accepted it with poise and spiritual composure.
The Bible does not record any moment of trepidation or hesitation, rather Mary’s response was documented as being quite mellow and mild:
“be it unto me according to thy word…” Mary accepted God’s call upon her life without any questions such as to “how” “why” or “when” this incredible event would take place in her life.
Many questions must have come to her mind yet she did not ask God for any further details but rested peacefully in His will despite much unknown ramifications of this special calling placed upon her life.
How often do we request the minutest details from God as He places His calling on our life?
