Asking Man Instead of God a Grave Error in Communication
1 Samuel 28:6-8 (KJB) And when Saul inquired of the LORD, the LORD answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets. 7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at En-dor. 8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.
There are many avenues of education and knowledge available in this world but only one highway has God’s clear “spiritual stamp of approval” indicating the information is vital knowledge derived from God.
Too often a man will seek out for information and knowledge from unreliable sources who are not “God-approved.” They are solely based upon the opinion and reasoning of a man rather than truths of God.
Saul did first try to garner knowledge from God but God would not answer him. Instead of stopping right there to consider why he was personally unable to receive any information from God, Saul instead burrowed on and dug his heels in on a quest to find some answers. In doing so Saul reached out to other available sources who were not reputable.
Saul’s chain of communication was broken with God because he chose to serve sin rather than truths of God and this spiritual pollution soon became a “spiritual roadblock” which did not permit any prayer access or fellowship with God.
Saul could have reached out to God to fix this situation through the supernatural power of God which can remove any formidable barriers which prohibit and prevent vital communication with God. But, Saul chose to continue in his search for answers by utilizing other sources of information. This was a dreadful and grave choice leading farther and farther away from things of God and aligning Saul further and further with the evil at work in this world.
Only valuable spiritual communication with God can provide any vital life sustaining answers. Any other highway or ulterior source of wisdom is littered with spiritual debris, unfamiliar spirits, and false information that proves spiritually grave in light of eternity.
