Awestruck by His Word
Psalm 119:161 (KJB) SCHIN. Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.
It is a sad fact today that many hearts have failed to stand in awe of the power and presence of God, or His Word. Today we are spiritually privileged to have the entire sacred inspired recordings of God to hold in our hand. In ancient times a man could only reflect upon words of God that he heard preached or perhaps had the pleasure of holding a page or a scroll but for a moment in time.
Sadly, a man often stands in awe of earthly leaders, whether they be evil or not, rather than standing in amazement and admiration of things of God over any kind of leadership based in this world.
In this scripture, David is facing much undue persecution at the hand of Saul but he continued to be moved and aligned by the direction and desires of God at work in his heart rather than the presence of jealous opposition and quirky leadership at work about him. David continued to hold the very words of God as sacred inside his softened heart. He was moved by their power and awesome supernatural nature rather than be moved into action by the nature of dark evil at work about him.
What about your spiritual heart condition? Is it being moved in a heavenly direction by the very words of God or is it moved about in a dark and dysfunctional manner by the wickedness at work in this world? A man can stand spiritually tall, as did David, led by the indwelling power and presence of God.
