Be Careful What Your Ears Feed Upon In This World
I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:6-8 KJV)
A mingling together of grace and law is like trying to mix oil and water. The law shows us how sinful we are but it does nothing to save us. The law is useful in illuminating our sin nature but is powerless to take care of our inclination to sin. Focusing narrowly on the law creates hypocrisy in those who serve God but leaving the law out of the message creates a soft approach to the righteousness of God.
There are many flavors of the gospel message out in the world for man to feast upon. Some are more popular than others, some leave a strange taste in your mouth while others are merely shallow and sugar coated outwardly having no lasting substance abiding in the middle.
People often choose to migrate towards those things which are pleasant and pleasing to their ears and eyes. The Gospel message in His Word is sometimes sharp; coming straight to the point of Truth rather than skating around the message including the power of His shed blood, cost of sin, conviction of man’s heart, and the necessity turning from sin and changing one’s mind about sin to view sin as God sees it.
