Be Yourself, Not!

Be Yourself, Not!

1 Peter 1:16 (KJB) Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

I hope you will agree that God does not call any of us to do what we want to do ever.  You see, the direction God gives always revolves around Him, not us.  God desires for us to be holy, just as He is holy.

Oh, even though we often like to wear our brand sense concerning purity and usually will choose to walk in this world according to our emotions and desires, we must admit that everything is about God and has nothing to do with us.

Ouch, that stings a bit.

God does not ask us to be holy because that makes us better than others.  Or because we can “wear” perfection well.  No, God wants each of us to be holy simply because He is holy, and we are to identify with Him and be like Him, not imitating others around us in this wicked leaning world.  A child of God is set aside from this world and blameless before God.

God does not want us to be ourselves, imitate others, or set ourselves up a peg or two above others.  No, God desires that we identify with Him, Galatians 2:20, and be holy just as He is holy.
