Bearing Precious Fruit
John 15:4-5 (KJB) Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
A close relationship with The Vine is essential. Both in this world and for all eternity.
Jesus chose to use simple principles of plant growth to teach about the basics of Christian living and spiritual maturity. These same principles are relevant for spiritual living today.
Branches grow only by their dependence upon the main vine.
God is The Vine necessary for having a spiritual life and for support of new growth. Just as a plant cannot grow and produce without receiving vital nutrients from the stem. Christians cannot mature in the faith and produce fruit without his or her reliance upon God.
A Christian is not a “one man spiritual machine” but always relies wholly upon the supernatural power and strength of God for humility and production of spiritual fruit both honoring and pleasing to God.
