Before The World Began
Titus 1:2 (KJB) In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.
The genuine professing child of God can count on two spiritually giant things mentioned in this verse.
The first is the hope of eternal life since the beginning. It is a certainty that every regenerated heart will, in fact, find themselves present in eternity with God upon the moment of their physical death. Also, it is important to note that every lost heart will also find themselves present in eternity, but with a perpetual address among the fires of hell, rather than enjoying sweet spiritual fellowship with God forever.
The other giant truth is that God cannot lie. Thinking of truth in worldly terms allows a man to marginalize the message of God by considering that He simply chooses to lie like many people in this world do. No, the truth is that God cannot lie. Deceit resides at the opposite end of the spiritual spectrum from the holiness and perfection of God. Lying does not, nor cannot blend with His perfect character.
This verse gives each of us a spiritual breath of fresh air. We “hang our hat” on certain promises found in the nature and character of God. He gives every regenerated man perpetual hope about the future. The fact that God cannot lie allows a man to place unfettered confidence in His supernatural power and presence.
