Building Apart from God is In Vain
Psalm 127:1-2 (KJB) A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
If you think the construction of new houses in this world is structurally and aesthetically top of the line, you ought to give thought to the magnificent dwelling God has constructed for every member of His spiritual family. Though you cannot see His construction with your own eyes from this world, a person must choose to believe that His eternal buildings are out of this world.
That is where the problem starts, mankind is naturally keen on viewing a finished product. To touch the finished woodwork and to walk on sturdy and beautiful wood floors. A man delights in being able to choose his own custom finishes and to add special touches to his home. A man often delights in his own style of blueprints and delights in finish work.
However, the building process does not work that way with God.
When a man considers occupying a heavenly dwelling put together exclusively by God, he is unable to see it, touch it, help to design it, and it is not all about him, he can often quickly lose interest in residing in such a residence. Without taking any part in this divine construction process an unbelieving man who cannot perceive the value and spiritual beauty of such a future dwelling for he wants his special dwelling both his way and in the here and now. There is no such thing as a “forever home” erected in this world.
On the other hand, every sincere spiritual heart will be blown away by the raising of his spiritual house. Not to mention the undeserved devotion and direction given of God who prepared both the plans and the work. His eternal dwelling will last forever not subject to rot, demise, or destruction common to any structure erected by a man in this world.
Any construction plans in erecting a forever home apart from God is in vain. God must be involved in the building process for it to stand for His work is both lovely and lasting. Even when a man cannot see any building progression or help in any way, God always gets it done!
