Carnal Minds Cannot Please God
Romans 8:5-8 (KJB) For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
God uses two words to describe the mind in this verse; carnal and spiritual. Each lie at opposing ends of the spiritual spectrum.
What the ear gate hears, and what the eyes observe lead directly into a channel which affects the mind. Ultimately this influx of information gathered from this world flows from the brain to the heart, thereby affecting speech, action, and attesting the allegiance of the soul.
Certainly, you understand that the spiritual condition of the heart determines the destination of every soul in eternity.
One avenue minds the things of this world and the other way keeps things of Christ forefront in the mind. You see, it is important for every person to have his mind in line with God for only having a personal relationship with Him leads to eternal life. Any mind that disregards and opposes God is lifeless towards things of a spiritual nature does not personally know God. A carnal mind is spiritually lost and destined for Hell.
Carnality pleases the flesh while spiritual mindedness pleases God. A man is either spiritual lovely and fragrant or he stinks spiritually, releasing an odor of death and hostility towards God.
A man who minds the things of God is spiritually lovely and finds peace and perpetual prosperity. A person who places his mind on the god of this world is not attractive spiritually speaking and finds only disharmony and eternal spiritual ruin.
