Cast it Upon the Water
Ecclesiastes 11:1 (KJB) Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.
Well, go ahead, toss it into the water. What is this verse speaking about? Is it referring to a fishing line. No, the bread is not a fishing lure or special bait to attract fish in the sea. Casting bread upon the waters is to be generous in giving to others in need that which God has provided to you.
Now notice, this scripture verse is not speaking of just any old bread, but thy bread. It is bread that God has personally given to you. It is manna given for your moment. A person chooses to cast out bread which has been given to him being God’s hand for bringing sustenance to another soul in his or her moment of need. This giving can be either in the form of spiritual nourishment or physical food, or both as God divinely leads your heart.
Sometimes you cannot physically see the person or know personally about his or her need. However, God views each heart and knows each need and desire. That is why it is so important for a child of God to be spiritually tuned in to God through prayer to hear and to act upon His will in their life.
God is the master of all things including the land and sea. The entire universe is His. When an individual has a need, God can prompt another heart to cast bread, even blindly through faith, upon the water of life. Not only does this bread provide for the need of another, but eventually it comes back to take care of the needs of every willing and generous soul who has kept God’s circle of blessing revolving.
God is the ultimate Provider and Protector. He knows your needs and mine before we can even cast them before His feet. He gives us each bread, or manna for our need, and to use with open hands in caring for needs of others.
