Sojourn in Fear

Sojourn in Fear

1 Peter 1:17 (KJB) And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear.

There is much valuable eternal information for us to hear and take to heart found in this verse.  First up, please duly note the word “if” located in this verse.

If ye call on the Father…” sets the spiritual tone for a proper understanding of God’s message.  This spiritual stipulation precedes a critical promise.  Why, because ...

Spiritual Deafness

John 8:43-44 (KJB) Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

The devil lies through any means possible, including the news ...

Against Thee Only

Against Thee Only

Psalm 51:4 (KJB) Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

David was heartbroken and spiritually naked before God. His sin laid bare and evil before God.  David understood the magnitude of his sin against the holy nature and perfection of God.  How grievous all sin is before God, yet how wonderful it is that He cares for us and desires to forgive and ...

Children Rise Up Against Ancient

Isaiah 3:4-5 (KJB) And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. 5 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.

This scripture above is such an interesting verse speaking of children or youth rising up against elders.  You know how it is, younger “know it alls” who are not willing to listen to valuable ...

Human Reasoning, Consensus, or Conviction?

Human Reasoning, Consensus, or Conviction?

2 Corinthians 7:9-10 (KJB) Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

Being sad, apologetic, and sorrowing unto repentance are radically different avenues in life.  Each of us is personally responsible for recognizing God and choosing whether to ...

More Noble

Acts 17:11 (KJB) These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

These believers, as mentioned above, were likely Jewish, and were spiritually accomplished or noble.  They were viewed as more upright than some of their counterparts in Thessalonica Church.

Why?  This verse gives us two reasons:

Their mind was ready.

They searched the scriptures each day.

Indeed, you understand that not every professing Christian who occupies a ...

Eating Good

Eating Good

Isaiah 1:19 (KJB) If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.

This verse is sandwiched in between a litany of verses where God is speaking to the hearts of the people of Judah.  Though these words were spoken and recorded in ancient times, they are still relevant to the heart and mindset of each of God faring individual today.

First, God beckons a person to come, to get their heart cleansed, or consecrated, by Him, and to choose to live ...

Jesus Calls His Disciples Friends

John 15:15 (KJB) Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Isn’t it great to have a best friend?  That one person who knows all about you.  To have one sibling, partner, friend or life-long spouse that you can call on any time day or night.  A person who will drop everything to come and ...

David Considered the Goodness of God

Psalm 8:3-4 (KJB) When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; 4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

This starry night, as the shepherd David stared into the sky, he pondered creation and was awed at the magnitude of God and humbled with the insignificance of mankind.  It is quite a wonder, indeed, when a person takes a ...

Ready with A Proper Response

1 Peter 3:14-15 (KJB) But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.

Fear is a wonderful thing; that is when God is the object of fear.  Any person who fears God and is ...
