Chewed Up and Spit Out

Jeremiah 51:34 (KJB)   Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out.

The nation of Judah looked back upon the persecution and horrible treatment they endured when captive in the hands of evil Nebuchadrezzar.   The Bible says they were devoured, crushed, made empty, swallowed up, and cast out.

The nation of Judah is a small land in proportion to other nations.  It did not take much strength and power from King Nebuchadrezzar to come into their land to capture them, persecute them, torture them, and in the end,  utterly cast them out of occupying their own land.

The king was a reigning bully who utterly consumed the people in his reign of terror.  God never holds his people hostage or desires to harm them.
