Children Rise Up Against Ancient
Isaiah 3:4-5 (KJB) And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. 5 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.
This scripture above is such an interesting verse speaking of children or youth rising up against elders. You know how it is, younger “know it alls” who are not willing to listen to valuable wisdom given by older people, elders in the church, grandparents, and such — often choosing not to garner lessons from the many years of proven experience because the kids know it all already.
This verse contextually is speaking about tumultuous times in Judah. Children were, like the youth of today, perhaps rich in things in their assessment but in reality, deplete of eternal wisdom and godliness. These spoiled kids could not fathom their need for God and real, lasting knowledge. According to their understanding, they had everything under control, or so they thought, but their best of times were spiritually cold and chaotic at best.
You see, a person must endure hardship to understand his human weakness. Giving a child everything only leads to him having nothing he needs. Just like today, young people think they know it all about life. Many raised in this “trophy for all” society believe that they are on the proven track to success, invincible and indestructible. All the while stepping over an array of experienced mature individuals that could help them along the way in this world.
Sadly, many young people have not failed and fell to the ground in utter despair, desperation, and desolation and will, for a time, remain to stand pridefully tall. Perhaps their day of reckoning is just right around the corner, whether it be on this earth or when standing face to face with God remains yet to be determined according to the will and way of God.
You see, there are honorable, God serving individuals often regarded as deplorable elders with archaic views both in this world and in the church who have much relevant life experience to pass on to the next generation. Many mature seniors grew up in steadfast faith, having met personally with God in desperate times of yesterday. However, the up and coming generation can only comprehend their present circumstances, failing to grasp the heart harmony, gratefulness, spiritual blessings, financial peace, and spiritual success, of seniors who choose to agree with God rather than being spiritually lost and spiritually stark before God. God wants the next generation to learn valuable eternal lessons through the experiences and steadfastness of elders who have walked before.
