Choose Life

Deuteronomy 30:19 (KJB) I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.

Moses urged these ancient people to understand that only God has authority over both life and death.  This same message must be given to hearts today for sadly, the significance of both God and the preciousness of life has waned among many cold and lukewarm souls.

It is sad indeed that a woman can choose to end the life of her child growing in the womb.

Or that an ill elderly patient can choose to take his own life in the name of quieting his physical suffering.

A chronically ill patient denied the medical care he needs to sustain his life in the name of best modern health care practices, sometimes with a bent on ushering in death rather than in saving a life.

The stinging reality is Christ-likeness is often much different than professing to be a Christian in many walks of life in this world.  Christ-likeness always values life above that of death and understands that ultimately, God is in control of both life and death.

Those who are naturally bent on ignoring God’s prevailing authority will undoubtedly support death rather than upholding life.  God’s right to hold the keys of both life and death (Revelation 1:18) is above, and apart from any individual choosing to apply a belief in scientific or medicinal advances, especially those known to lead to physical death apart from God.
