Colossians Bible Study – Chapter 1 Part 25

The Purpose Revealed

New Beginning or a Hoax

Colossians 1:18 (KJB) And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

In this video, we will finish our study of Colossians 1:18.  What does it mean that Jesus was the firstborn from the dead?

Elijah raised the son of the Zarephath widow in 1 Kings 17:17-22.  Elisha raised two from the dead. The first in 2 Kings 4:32-35 and the second in 2 Kings 13:20-21.  Jesus raised three people from the dead before he was raised from the dead. One in Luke 7:11-15, the second in Luke 8:55, the third was Lazarus in John 11:43-44.

So how can Jesus be the firstborn from the dead? What does it mean to give Jesus the preeminence? Do we give Jesus the preeminence?
