Correction Conveys Life
Proverbs 23:13-14 (KJB) Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. 14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.
Proper corporal punishment is biblical. It works as a benefit helping to corral and soften the will of a wayward child. A proper penalty for misbehavior knocks a child off his or her feet. It sets him or her down a notch or two. It knocks the wind out of his or her sails and allows God to do the lifting of his or her soul.
Spiritually speaking, punishment is naturally designed to place a person in his or her own natural place. For the child of God, it ushers in a proper heavenly perspective encouraging discernment and perception aligned with the will and way of God.
Punishment: That is what is missing from the lives of many children (both young and old) in this world.
Without facing penalties for their sin many will never be able to rightly discern what is right from wrong.
Properly applied reprimands will never harm a child but can create a channel for allowing God’s light to penetrate and soften his or her naturally darkened heart.
Consequences and penalties can steer a man to perceive and rightly evaluate his true nature and eternal standing.
