Daniel Found Favor
Daniel 6:1-3 (KJB) It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom; 2 And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage. 3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.
Darius was a new ruler of all the territories of Babylon. He restructured these regions and selected a prince for each area to rule under his authority. Darius also selected three presidents, of whom one was Daniel, for these princes to report to.
Think about this situation for a moment. Daniel was brought into captivity along with many other young men. They had been captured and brought to this land of Babylon to be used as slave labor at the pleasure of the king. However, here was Daniel who was selected to be placed in a position just under the king. He was to be involved in the day to day operations of the kingdom.
Think about how God promoted Daniel in this land. He had worked respectively for Nebuchadnezzar and could interpret his dreams through the power and presence of God. Secondly, he was elevated to an important leadership position under the leadership of this new king.
Despite any situation, God can lift you up. He can place you in a position of authority in this world if doing so is according to His will. Daniel had proven himself, both to earthly leaders and most importantly to God.
