David Laments About His Sin
Psalm 6:6-7 (KJB) I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. 7 Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.
David is led to share in this Psalm about a personal time of great remorse. His sadness and grief about his sin and is sad indeed.
I am sure you have had a time or two when you cry yourself to sleep. Great sadness overcomes you, and the tears begin to fall upon your pillow. But, wait, is this because of a sad event or circumstance at work in your life? Or was it because of conviction concerning sin at work in your life?
You see, there is a big difference in crying tears about misery we face from time to time and in lamenting to God in sorrow concerning our sin.
Big difference, indeed.
David was crying to God about the grievous sins marring his life. David was humbled about personal sin before God.
