Do It Your Way

Psalm 81:11-12 (KJB) But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. 12 So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels.

These verses, in context, are God speaking about His people.  The nation of Israel chose to ignore God, failing to heed His commands or to walk in His direction.  Not once, but over and over again, the Jews wished to walk their way in this world.

Doesn’t this stiff-necked rebellion still ring true to this day?  There are so many people with their ears shuttered, and their feet tangled and twisted in things of this world they can no longer hear the direction and decrees of God.  Just like the disobedience and desperation found at work in the nation of Israel, as these verses point to in ancient times.

Sadly, many people walk away from the riches and blessings of God and bury themselves in the spiritual quicksand of this dark world.  Doing it “their way” leads to certain death. However, “doing it,” God’s way always leads to life forever.

God allows us to waste His riches if that is what we choose to do.  However, God desires that each of us will want to hear, receive, and move according to His divine direction in this dark world.
