Do Not Cower In The Corner

Ephesians 6:10 (KJV) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

This verse follows several injunctions leading up to this conclusion to stand firm in the faith.  Not in our power, but the strength of the Lord.  This letter to the Ephesians, written to the first-century church at Ephesus, instructs this congregation to hang tough in hard times.

Not only that, but in the verses following this one, these people are instructed to put on the armor God provides for gearing up for battles that lie ahead.  God does not want His army to roll over and play dead.  He desires that they engage with the enemy equipped with His power and strength.  The truth is that no human can stand alone against satan, for God’s power is necessary for defeating the enemy and his henchmen at work on this earth.

Each genuine Christian must don the armor of God before he faces the enemy at work in this world.  God’s army must use every weapon and armor at hand to stand tall in God’s grace and protection as battles ensue about him on this earth.

Through the writer, the Apostle Paul, God instructs here for the Ephesian brethren to stand firm in the Lord.  No man can face the enemy and win in his strength, in or out of God’s church.  Independent of God, any stand will fall short of victory both in and out of the church.
