Do Those Things
Philippians 4:9 (KJB) Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
The Apostle Paul urges the Philippian believers to take those things they heard, received, and learned and to do them. You see, the Apostle Paul encouraged the believers to get busy about God, applying the life lessons He revealed to them and through them. More specifically, they were to do “those things…”
For understanding the particular things God is referring to here as recorded through the Apostle Paul, we must look back at the previous verses where God inspired Paul to rail in detail the very things implied here in this verse. Each of us must read these passages before the study of verse nine above, to comprehend the intended context of this verse.
Indeed, you know that we are not encouraged to accomplish these things to complete them simply but to find and hold onto the peace of God. God’s peace comes and multiplies in doing His will, which in this case, involves the immediate previous verses.
