Does God Give a Green Light to Marijuana?

Genesis 1:29 (KJB) And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

A lot of people perhaps choose to misinterpret this above verse of scripture by implying that it allows for both casual and/or medicinal marijuana use.  After all, you know, marijuana it is a plant and God gave mankind all plants for his or her good and benefit.

God even planted a garden for Adam to tend to!  It must have had marijuana plants in it!

However, there is much more scripture for a person to consider before falling for this commonly used trick.  It is scripture wrenching at its finest simply for the purpose of fulfilling selfish dark desires.

Please do not take the spiritual death plunge like Eve!  You need to intimately know and understand God’s Word so that you can properly discern and deflect any fiery darts containing twisted words of God hurled by the god of this world.

Discernment should be a spiritual priority for every professing child of God.  Any private interpretation of scripture is both a dangerous and one-sided view of what God’s Word really has to say to us, especially when considering popular or trending topics which can quickly trick a man into believing bold lies about something when he is not familiar with what God has to say.

Let’s also consider this verse:

1 Corinthians 6:12 (KJB) All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

Just like in the case of marijuana or other addicting drugs, or the influence of alcohol as an example, a man or woman is not to be brought under the influencing power of anything.  Just because a civil law is passed in this world it does not mean that God’s opinion agrees with any civil law created by mankind, or that He sees it as spiritually profitable.  God allows both evil and good to be present upon this earth for a time and for every person to choose to engage in wickedness or align himself with things of God.

The spiritual bottom line: If the government of this world serves up a law legalizing something that is not aligned with the holiness and righteousness of God, every man will give an answer to God about his own personal choice in such matters.

The context of Bible verses can and must be rightly divided (2 Timothy 2:15) by comparing scripture with other scripture, rather than against the opinions of other men.  There are many other verses which can be used in biblical apologetics about the use of marijuana as well as other addicting things.
