Does Your Life Offer “Eloquent Spiritual Garnish”?
We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us. How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire? (Psalm 79:4-5 KJV)
The Israelite’s had ruined their own testimony, bringing shame upon themselves. Man’s testimony is an important spiritual element of living a “sold out” life. It only takes an act or word unfitly spoken to tarnish our testimony to God and with those who are in our midst.
Man either serves as a “eloquent spiritual garnish” by promoting the Word of God bringing honor and glory to Him. Or he serves to ignore God or falsely profess a relationship with Him, while holding hands with the god of this world “under the table”, thereby splattering evil and wickedness bringing reproach to the name of God.
Those who willingly choose to bring an evil representation to both the name of God and to those gathered in their midst must understand that God can only remain merciful and longsuffering for a time.
God will swing the hammer of judgement upon any who insist upon living in enmity to His will and way in this world because He cannot tolerate or excuse sin.
