Don’t Give Up When The Going Gets Rough
Psalm 95:7-8 (KJB) For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, 8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness.
Oh poor me, Oh woe is me; me, me, me. That is a favorite song that many like to sin repeatedly. Yes, we often want to give up, get down, and feel sorry for ourselves. Wh, because that pathway is often easier than admitting we are wrong, that we are a sinner and in need of God.
Sinners or saints, at times we can all be found guilty of holding onto a defeated mindset as we sojourn on this earth. One significant difference is that some people like to hang onto their woes while others weep and go onward to smile and live another day.
Yes, not all like to sing a sad song amid rough times and untoward circumstances. However, “singing the blues” is not what God expects His spiritual family to do when the going gets rough. Far from it. God does not call us to model willful disbelief, apathy, or to feel sorry for ourselves. Instead, the focus of our mind and heart should remain on Him and His promises.
Placing hope and trust in God, despite our circumstances, is the key to marching forward inside the will of God rather than choosing to step aside to wail and “oh woe is me…” with a forlorn defeated attitude. Doing so only leads to a hardened, bitter state of the heart and causing us to meander aimlessly in this world.
