Dwelling as A Foreigner
1 Peter 2:13-15 (KJB) Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; 14 Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. 15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.
Every child of God is a foreigner in this world. Living as such, we are to acquiesce to the laws of this land. However, we should do so while upholding God’s Law. It is true, we can dutifully submit to the law of the land, for we know the ultimate laws and control rests on the shoulder of God. When we follow His will and direction for our life, we are always found standing spiritually tall and preserved among great wickedness at work in this world.
A foreigner is a guest, or a stranger, in an unfamiliar land. When a person goes on vacation to another country he is expected to follow the rules in place in that country. You cannot make up your own laws and dwell as you please inside any foreign land, doing so would stand against that which has already been established by the leader(s) of that land.
First and foremost succumbing to God’s decrees will ultimately suffice as you travel about anywhere in this world seeking to comply with laws of the land for God has every land and nation under His divine control.
Daniel and his friends were divinely preserved as they were made to dwell inside the borders of a hostile land. God can prepare you and preserve your life in the same manner as He did for Daniel as you humbly choose to submit to His will and way.
Choosing to agree with God and to rally against a hostile spiritual regime attempting to gain your affection and trust in this world, though he or she faces turmoil for a time, a child of God will ultimately gain God’s spiritual victory. Every spiritual criminal will face the wrath of God because of their unjust and evil dealing in this world.
