Eternal Mirth Comes Through a Broken Spirit
Proverbs 15:13 (KJB) A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
Sorrow of the heart is not pleasant but is a spiritual necessity.
A broken spirit erupts and diffuses self-will giving way for God’s perfect will.
Mourning about sin conveys a desire for new spiritual life.
A merry heart can only come through the presence of God at work in a softened heart.
A person’s heart either has a merry disposition about things of God or it is burdened and sorrowed about God. One temperament leads to godly wisdom and knowledge, while the other leads to an eternal sorrow which cannot ever be consoled.
