Eve Was The First Mother to Lose A Child
Genesis 4:8 (KJB) And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
In this verse from the book of Genesis, we have the first murder. This horrific act was levied on one soul by his brother. Cain, the firstborn son of Adam and Eve, murdered his brother Cain.
Maybe when you read about a murder happening today, your heart is somewhat hardened to these kinds of events as they repeatedly happen on this wicked-leaning earth. So, often in fact that the word murderer has lost significance. This distance can be true, until, or unless the loss of life is personal, like a mom losing a child.
Take your mind back to this first mother. Eve gave birth and nurtured this child into a young adult. She did not have other humans besides Adam and her two children to grow and mature alongside. This loss of one child at the hands of her other child must have been almost unbearable.
I have witnessed a few times where a mother has lost her child due to a horrific accident, illness, or other unexpected incidents. Death is never easy, but the special bond a mother has with her husband and their children entwines her soul. It is a bond, though now broken, may never heal while she is alive on this earth.
This kind of heartache rings true whether it is an accident, or a mother chooses to take the life of her child through abortion or murder after the child has been born—the loss of a child, or children, haunts, and hounds a mother’s soul.
Though the death of children has taken on a new intensity in this wicked leaning world, this does not ever lighten the anguish a mother feels when her child physically dies. Eve was likely heartbroken at her son’s death at the hand of her other son though she did go on to nurture others, her love for Abel likely never withered.
