Falling Away Rather Than Flocking To Christ

Matthew 7:22-23 (KJB) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

If you listen to the words of many famous preachers, you will often hear them speak of a revival.  Yes, maybe some God-intentioned preachers will reach hungry hearts bringing a revitalizing spirit concerning their commitment to Christ.

Or, even better, for some lost souls to hear God’s gospel message for the very first time.

However, God’s Word speaks of a coming time of great spiritual thirst and the presence of many parched spiritual souls.  This scripture verse points to a time when countless people choose to ignore the clear message both heard and written into the landscape of this world by God (Romans 1:20) rather than to be drawn to listen and to apply to truths of God, again or for the very first time.

Sadly, many elect to serve and savor the god of this world and to disregard anything to do with God.

The great falling away is a time of rampant wickedness and utter disdain for hearing or learning things of God.  This kind of spiritual atmosphere to come is when no wicked souls have any desire or intention to listen to God or to get to know Him on a personal level.  Perhaps we are living on the edge of this day?
