Favoritism Forbidden and Genuine Love Expected
James 2:9-10 (KJB) But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. 10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Many people get the intent of this scripture verse upside down and backward. In the verse before this one, God’s Royal Law is mentioned. This law simply means that if a person chose to adopt this principle to simply love others without any expectations and despite anything and everything about their circumstances, many would be loved in this world.
However, people intend to love others indiscriminately. We like to put conditions on our love. This kind of heart attitude draws lines and limits on our love towards others. Thank God He did not adopt any limitations in loving you and me.
On this day, Valentine’s Day, which is set aside to celebrate relationships and what is considered love in this world. Let’s be a billboard for the unconditional love of Jesus Christ and love others despite their spiritual state, their circumstances, and even if they do not choose to love us back.
No person in this world can meet or exceed the unconditional love of God. True love is only found in a personal relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. Let’s live with the love of God at work in our hearts and touching others in this world.
