Foolish Galatians Reprimanded
Galatians 3:1 (KJB) O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
Paul comes straight at obvious spiritual errors of the Galatians armed with the truths of God. Oh, how foolish they were in trying to keep the law, perhaps even making Paul’s heart skip a beat, as he considered their misplaced confidence in such blatantly incorrect doctrine.
Hadn’t they been paying close attention to what he had been preaching and teaching?
Further, this allegiance to such error was hard for Paul to comprehend for these people had even been alive and present as Jesus Christ was falsely accused and sentenced to death on Calvary. The Truth was once standing right before their eyes as they, along with many others, failed to drink in the magnitude of His presence and perpetual foundation.
The Apostle Paul was holding nothing back in both reprimanding and encouraging these wayward believers into examining their hearts and spiritual pulse concerning such grievous errors. He did not only correct them but reiterated truth apart from this error so that they could alter their mindset and heart to agree with the character and holiness of God resulting in greater obedience in their individual lives.
It does not spiritually profit a heart if a godly man sees an error and fails to properly point it out and offer a correct declaration of God’s precepts concerning the matter. Further, once a foolish mistake like a works doctrine is dealt with, greater fellowship and obedience is the natural result at work inside the heart of a sincere child of God.
