Revelation 2:7 (KJV) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
In this devotion today, we will again look closely at the biblical scripture God provided concerning this tree of life. Something important is revealed to us in this verse about this distinctive heavenly tree. This tree is for overcomers. Wow, God’s spiritual family are overcomers.
Regenerated souls gave up alcohol, drugs, anger issues, sexual addictions, lying, cravings, and habits of all sorts, by overcoming or beating the constant draw to sin against God and choose instead to savor and serve Him. This removal of sin or sanctification is an ongoing spiritual beautifying process in every regenerated soul as they walk in this world.
God says He will give overcomers the tree of life to eat. This humongous tree’s unique fruit production is for those victorious in the battle against the sin that consumes them. Indeed you know that turning from sin to God is not possible without the power and presence of God. Through His chosen preachers, God’s message to the churches is provided to people who have their ears open and can hear God’s message.
Finally, the paradise of God refers to eternity. Though the Garden of Eden was once a paradise, open and supporting life in Adam and Eve’s time, there remains nothing like this on this earth. In heaven, each quickened alive soul will meet God and partake of the tree of life, just as God promises!
