From Top to Bottom
Mark 15:38 (KJB) And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
God’s Word is very specific in describing the tearing of the veil in the temple from top to bottom rather than from bottom to top.
Does it make any difference to mankind in exactly how this event took place?
Yes, it certainly does!
It is significant for the veil to be torn from the top because it was impossible to tear it from the ground. Mankind could not have reached the top of the veil because it towered many feet above to be rent it in two from below. Secondly, the veil was substantially thickened and the material was even somewhat hardened because it was repeatedly reworked and solidified from continued usage in the necessity of serving up animal sacrifices to God.
It has even been noted that even a team of bridled animals could not render a tear in the veil by pulling in opposition to each other on the ground. That was just how solid this veil was.
The only possible way for this veil to be torn in two was for God supernaturally rip it apart from Heaven. This tearing in two rendered unusable. The veil no longer scripturally necessary for atoning for the sin of all mankind. The eternal sacrifice for sin of the shed blood death His Son Jesus Christ on Calvary made the sacrifice of animals no longer required in compensating for sin.
The supernatural eternal transaction of Calvary removed sin forever thereby providing a pathway for man to have a personal and perpetual relationship with God without an intercessor.
