Glory or Grunge
2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (KJB) For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
It is no secret that saved hearts can look to a peace-filled eternity and succeed in this world despite their circumstances. Every child of God can find success and peace even though his mortal body and the things of this earth perish.
Why? It is because every regenerated heart is alive in Christ and dead to events and circumstances at work in this wicked world. You see, his or her circumstances and position in this world do not affect his eternal standing in Christ. Nothing in this world can change his or her eternal destination upon physical death or at the second coming of Christ.
However, every lost soul gets bound in the dirt and grime of this world and is tarnished by the nature of sin and the spiritual muck at work in this world. A lost soul has no lasting peace on this earth or in eternity. Instead, he suffers because of his association with sin apart from the eternal saving nature of God.
Everything on this earth is temporary. However, the things of Christ are eternal and will last forever. Every heart knit together with Christ is set apart from the wickedness at work in this world and will enjoy eternal fellowship with Christ for all eternity. Regenerated souls will experience God’s grace and glory forever rather than be stuck in the grunge and grime caused by sin remaining apart from God forever.
