Glory to God

2 Corinthians 4:7 (KJB)   But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

God’s ability and supernatural presence is not tied to human personality, popularity, or power.  God alone is spiritually perfect and poised.  Mankind is nothing and has nothing without the power and presence of God at work in his life.

“But we have this treasure in earthen vessels…”  This treasure is both supernatural and eternal.  The power and presence of God and His gospel message is alive and kicking inside regenerate hearts.

Earthen vessels are nothing more than human bodies of imperfect men who have made themselves humbly available for the power of God to dwell in and direct their life.  God flows into earthen vessels allowing His eternal light to filter through all the cracks and crevices of mankind.

His presence acts as a “spiritual magnet,” inevitably causing naturally evil hearts to desire His presence at work in their life.

The supernatural power of God relies upon nothing of man.  Mankind cannot glory in himself for He is but a vessel for displaying the “spiritual handiwork” of God.  All mankind is born into this world naturally evil and sinful and any glory and honor is God’s alone.
